Menifee & Riverside County Single Ply

Single-ply roofs are one-layer membranes for flat roofs on homes and commercial buildings in Menifee and Riverside County.

How We Do It

One-layer membranes for flat roofs

We roll the membrane out over the roof, seal the seams, and flash it at the walls, curbs and drains. A white membrane keeps a flat roof cooler in summer.

Call (619) 227-4340 and tell us about your flat roof.

What The Job Involves

  1. Membrane over the roof

  2. Sealed seams

  3. Flashing at walls, curbs and drains

Signs To Watch For

When A Membrane Roof Needs Work

  1. Seams Coming Apart

A single ply roof is only as tight as its seams. An open seam lets water run under the membrane, where it can travel a long way before it shows.

  2. Water That Sits

Ponding water on a membrane roof means the roof isn't draining. It wears the membrane and puts weight on the deck below.

  3. Flashing Pulling Away

At walls, curbs and drains, the membrane is flashed up and sealed. If it shrinks or pulls loose there, the edges are open to water.

Permits & Title 24

White Membranes And Title 24

A flat roof in Climate Zone 10 falls under California's low-slope cool roof values when more than half of it is replaced: an aged solar reflectance of at least 0.63 and a thermal emittance of at least 0.75, or an SRI of at least 75, plus R-14 continuous insulation or a roof assembly U-factor of 0.039, unless an exception applies.

To count toward the cool-roof values, the membrane has to be rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. An ENERGY STAR label alone doesn't show that a roof meets California's Energy Code.

Questions

Single Ply Questions

  1. Single ply or torch down?

Single ply is one membrane rolled out over the roof with sealed seams. Torch down is a base sheet and a cap sheet, heat-welded with a torch. Both are roofs for flat and low-slope sections.

  2. Why a white membrane?

A white membrane keeps a flat roof cooler in summer. In Climate Zone 10, a flat re-roof that replaces more than half the roof generally has to be highly reflective too, unless thicker insulation or another exception covers it.

  3. Do you work on commercial flat roofs?

Yes. Single ply goes on homes and commercial buildings, and our roof repair page shows a commercial flat roof we redecked.
